Deux-Montagnes, June 17th, 2016 – During yesterday’s press conference at Deux-Montagnes’ City Hall, the Mayor, Denis Martin and the members of the Canada Day Committee for MRC Deux-Montagnes, invited all citizens from the region to the 45th edition of Canada Day 2016. The celebration will take place on Friday July 1st at Central Park on 13th Avenue, south of Oka Road, in Deux-Montagnes.
For the second consecutive year, the musical group ”The Blushing Brides ” will be performing at Central Park on the “Le Selection Deux-Montagnes” Stage. The fireworks will be held at 10:15pm. You can find the complete schedule below.
This year, the Committee has named Mr. Troy Ewenson as the Parade Marshall. Resident and volunteer involved in sports in Deux-Montagnes, Mr. Ewenson has either been the vice-president or president of the Deux-Montagnes Softball Association Deux-Montagnes (DMSA) since 1996. He has also initiated many fundraising activities, having raised more than $100,000 in recent years for various community causes. Mr. Ewenson’s significant community involvement is worthy of recognition.
The Committee would like to acknowledge the precious support of community groups such as the Deux-Montagnes Lions Club , the Royal Canadian Legion, Deux-Montagnes Cadets- Navy League 107 and La Maison des Jeunes de Deux-Montagnes.
Mayor Denis Martin for his part reiterated the invitation to all citizens of the surrounding municipalities: “Canada Day is an opportunity to meet fellow citizens living in the MRC who proudly share the common values such as freedom of expression and culture.”
The President of the Canada Day Committee, Mr. Dave Byers, noted: “We are proud of the community participation and the longevity of this celebration on the North Shore, typically attracting up to 10,000 people. I must take this opportunity to thank our wonderful group of volunteers as well as our partners, the City of Deux-Montagnes, the Government of Canada, Caisse Desjardins Saint-Eustache/Deux-Montagnes, and our brand new partner this year, Réseau Sélection.”

11:45am: Canada Day Parade (Starting at the Legion, proceeding along Oka Road, arriving at Central Park, 13th Avenue)
Noon: Singing the National Anthem “O Canada” in front of City Hall.
12:45pm: Opening Ceremony at Central Park
1pm to 6pm: Games for children, bingo, horseshoe tournament, petting zoo, etc.
Entry will be free to the Municipal Pool all day.
1:45pm to 3pm: Races for children, family competitions
1 pm to Midnight: Musical Performances
10:15 pm : Fireworks

For everyone’s safety, dogs are not allowed on site. All food & beverages other than those sold on site are not permitted. Please encourage the event by purchasing your food and drink on site. These sales go directly towards offsetting the costs for the festivities, including the fireworks display. Please note that the streets which border Central Park will be closed as of 7:00 PM.
