Fête du Canada – Canada Day (MRC de Deux-Montagnes)
The Canada Day Committee for MRC Deux-Montagnes is proud to present the 50th edition of Canada Day in Deux-Montagnes on Thursday, July 1st, 2021. Unfortunately, again due to the pandemic, we will be unable to hold our usual, open air celebration with family activities, concerts and fireworks at Deux-Montagnes’ Central Park. The reopening is progressing well and if Canada Day were September 1st, everything would probably be doable, but this is not the case. We are, nonetheless, going to do our best to provide an opportunity for all residents of the Deux-Montagnes MRC to celebrate Canada Day, with a combination of actual and virtual events, providing fun for all ages.
Back for 2021 is our Opening Ceremony and our Community Ride. Residents of the MRC are asked to decorate their vehicles in our Canadian colours and come down to Deux-Montagnes’ Veterans Hall (Legion). A ceremony at noon will kick off the day, including the singing of O Canada, followed by a drive around Deux-Montagnes. Honk your horns and show your colours!
Also back for 2021 is our Virtual Bingo on Facebook. The cost will be $15. Stay tuned to this Facebook page for more details on how to sign up and play.
With Quebec’s reopening schedule progressing well, the Canada Day Committee is also looking at the feasibility to hold some limited activities at Central Park between 2 pm and 4 pm. Stay tuned to our Facebook Page and this website for details as we get closer to July 1st.
The evening festivities are virtual again for 2021. This year, two shows will be presented on our YouTube channel: (1) A condensed version of our Opening Ceremony and Community Ride will be broadcasted at 7:30 pm for those who could not be at Veterans Hall at noon. (2) At 8 pm, a one-hour show will be presented which will feature requested Canadian songs from you, the residents of the Deux-Montagnes MRC, along with a slideshow of previous Canada Days. The show will also feature two special music videos – one – a tribute to those touched by the devastation of the pandemic, and the other – an uplifting invitation from the committee and our volunteers to be back at Central Park in 2022.
